Description
3-5 The Meadway is a former cottage known as Eliot Vale Cottage, built in 1805. The building is two storeys high with a basement and features a three-window wide central block flanked by side wings, which have been largely rebuilt, along with a red brick addition to No 3. The exterior is made of multicoloured stock brick with a parapet front. It has gauged flat brick arches above sash windows that have wooden glazing bars in the reveals. The left window on the ground floor has been altered to a door, and three small modern windows have been added to the front. The entrance features a four-panel door set in a fluted architrave, with narrow sidelights and a patterned fanlight above, all within a gauged round brick arch. An ornamental iron porch with a swept lead hood enhances the entrance. The building is primarily noted for its distinctive doorway and porch.
