Description
The monument located at the south side of the junction with Jews Walk in Kirkdale was constructed after 1898, designed by architect A R Hennell for the Lewisham Board of Works. It commemorates the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The monument features a stone arch in a baroque style, set on a canted plan. It has a cornice adorned with egg and dart moulding and a crested pediment, along with scrolled side buttresses. The arch is filled with a polished, inscribed granite slab. It rests on a plinth made of polished grey granite, which supports a segmental basin on corbels; the basin is currently filled with plants.
