162,164 AND 166, KENNINGTON ROAD SE11

Nos 162, 164, and 166 Kennington Road is a near-symmetrical building from the early to mid-19th century. It features a tall central block that has four storeys and a basement, with five windows, flanked by lower houses with three and two windows respectively. The structure is made of stock brick and includes a stucco entablature and blocking course on the central block, with parapets in front of slated mansards that have dormers on the sides. The basement and ground floor are stuccoed with banded rustication. Number 166 has a stucco front. The sash windows, mostly with glazing bars, are set in moulded architraves, while the ground floor of No 164 features round-arched windows with bracketed cills. There are six steps leading up to a central prostyle Tuscan porch. No 162 has a six-panel door with a fanlight in an architrave, while No 166 has had its door altered to a window.
