Description

This is an early 19th century terrace of properties numbered 177 to 187 on Kennington Road. The terrace consists of houses, each originally three storeys high with an attic and basement, and each possessing two windows, although number 177 has an added blank bay on its left side. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with a parapet front. The roofs are slated mansard roofs, incorporating dormers, with number 181 painted. The sash windows are generally accompanied by gauged flat brick arches and glazing bars. There are two steps leading to the six-panel doors. Numbers 177 and 179 share a paired door with a fluted head, patterned oblong fanlight, and a modified entablature surround. Number 181 has an altered door and a changed ground floor. The other properties have doors with a moulded architrave and a console bracketed cornice. Number 187 features a door within a recessed entrance bay.
