Description
Nos 118 and 120 Ferndale Road were built in the 1870s as an end pavilion that completes the Jennings terrace and turns the corner onto Tintern Street. The building is three storeys high and has two windows on the main façade, with a canted angle leading to a three-window return. It is constructed of stock brick and features terra-cotta dressings, including vermiculate quoins. The fairly low-pitched hipped slate roof has a moulded cornice and deep, leafy brackets that overlap the impost string of the segment-headed second-floor windows. The impost string also appears on the first floor, where there are round-arched windows with rusticated architraves supported by pilasters that have panels and capitals adorned with guilloche moulding. The ground floor has shop fronts, with No 118 altered and No 120 retaining its original design, featuring a slightly projecting fascia that rests on fluted and garlanded columns, along with panelled stallrisers.
