Description
St Anne's House is an early 19th-century building attributed to J M Gandy, designed in the Soanian style. It features three storeys, an attic, and a basement, which may be hiding an older structure. The exterior is finished in stucco, with a cornice and parapet, and high side walls supporting a slated mansard roof that includes a dormer.
On the left side, there is a wide bay with a two-storey projecting round bow, which has tripartite windows and entablatures on both floors, adorned with paterae and fret decoration. This bow is set within a full-height round-arched recess that shapes the top of the second-floor window. The narrower right bay has a segment-headed second-floor window that matches the left. The bow features patterned cast iron balconies.
Access to the building is via six steps leading to a door that is sheltered by a deep bracketed hood. Above the door, there is a modified entablature with a pediment and acroteria. The property is enclosed by plain wrought iron hand and area railings.
