Description

The front block of St Martin in the Fields High School for Girls is a mid-19th century small mansion that stands two storeys tall and features three bays. The centre bay is recessed, while the side bays have an additional half storey and a parapet. The building is constructed of stucco. The ground floor showcases a Tuscan order with angle pilasters and columns supporting a prostyle porch. The first floor features a Corinthian order, including a screen for the recessed centre, adorned with an enriched entablature. The rustications on the ground floor create voussoirs for the round-arched lights of the triple windows. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are framed on the first floor by moulded architraves, console bracketed cornices, and pediments. Above the porch, there is a balcony with a round-headed long casement at the back. Access to the building is via six steps leading to a half-glazed double door with a radial fanlight.
