Description

This is a group of mid-19th century villas, numbered 5 to 23, Moorland Road, London. The villas are arranged as a terrace, with each being two storeys high, plus an attic and basement, and featuring three windows. They are constructed of stucco with incised detailing. The roofs are slate, with dormers, chimneys at the ends of the terrace, and an eaves soffit ornamented with an egg and dart cornice supported by side pilasters. Horizontal bands run along the ground and first floors, with some incorporating a guilloche moulding. The sash windows have margin lights and some contain further glazing bars, set within moulded architraves; some architraves are eared. The ground floor windows are further embellished with friezes and console bracketed cornices, while some have pediments and patterned cast iron guards. Each villa has eight steps leading to a four-panel door, half-glazed and recessed within a prostyle porch featuring square columns, a modillion cornice, and filled sides. The entrances are framed by round or pointed arches.
