Description

This is a row of eight cottages, numbers 2 to 16, forming the north side of Courtenay Square in London. They were built in 1913-14 by Adshead and Ramsey for the Duchy of Cornwall Estate. The cottages are two storeys high, with two windows each. They are constructed of yellow stock brick with a key-patterned stucco band at sill level on the first floor, and a dentilled cornice and blocking course, raised at the centre and ends of the row. The end cottages project slightly. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, with round heads and interlaced bars above, particularly noticeable on the ground floor. The front doors consist of two large panels with a lozenge-glazed window above, set within wooden trellis porches with swept lead hoods. Low wrought iron front railings are present.
