Description
40 and 42 Stockwell Road is an early 19th-century large pair of houses, each three storeys tall with a basement. They feature two windows in the main block and a slightly set back two-storey entrance bay. Number 40 has a one-storey garage extension, while number 42 includes an added outer bay with a Venetian window set in a stuccoed round-arched recess. The buildings are constructed of stock brick and have a parapet front. They display gauged flat brick arches above the sash windows. Access is via four steps leading to a four-panel door with a plain fanlight, located in a round-arched recess with impost blocks, which continues through number 42 as a bend. An extra doorway has been inserted in number 42.
