Description
No 1 Stockwell Green, built around 1848, is a two-storey building designed in the Jacobean style. Originally constructed as an Educational Institute, it has since been used as a factory. The symmetrical facade features three windows and is made of red brick with stucco dressings and yellow stock brick returns. The building has projecting window bays with entrances located below a cornice, topped by a parapet. The windows are mullion transom style, with stucco surrounds consisting of three tiers and two lights, and they contain leaded diamond panes. The central entrance has mouldings at the back and a modern doorway. There are also side entrances with round arched doorways, flanked by Doric columns that support an entablature. An intermediate stage features a window flanked by tapered Ionic pilasters, which also carry an entablature.
