Description

This is a terrace of three buildings, number 139, 141, and 143 Kennington Road, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The buildings are three stories high with a basement, and originally had three, two, and two windows respectively, although number 139 has an irregular facade. They are constructed of stock brick and feature a parapet with a later dentilled cornice band, and remnants of an earlier first-floor band. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, with the exception of the first-floor windows of numbers 141 and 143, which are long casements with transoms and patterned cast iron balconies. Number 139 has a later added canted bay window on the left-hand side. The front doors consist of four fielded panels and two beaded panels, each with an enriched cornice head and a fanlight with interlaced bars within a narrow carved architrave. The doorcases are constructed of fluted columns and feature an open pediment supported by carved brackets.
