Description

Lansdowne House is an eight-story block of flats constructed in the late 19th century, designed by Flockhart. The building is primarily of greyish brick with stone dressings. It features irregular window openings; notably, the south side incorporates semi-hexagonal four-story bays on the corners, beginning from the first floor. A stone-headed entrance is located on the west side. A modillion cornice sits above the sixth floor on both the north and west elevations. Balconies are present, along with diagonal chimneys. The north and south ends have crow-stepped gable ends, with a central chimney on the western gable. A plaque from the Greater London Council commemorates that artists C Rickets, C Shannon, G Philpot, V Forbes, J Fryde and F C Robinson lived and worked in the building's studios.
