Description

The Tomb of John Jackson, located in Brompton Cemetery, was built in 1845 by T Butler. It features a massive tomb chest with nearly plain sloping faces and splayed angles, which supports a life-size reclining lion. On the south face, there is a low-relief profile head of Jackson. The tomb is flanked by gadrooned urns, one of which, located to the southeast, is broken. John Jackson was a renowned pugilist.
