Description

This is a terrace of houses located on Royal Avenue, dating from the early 19th century. The terrace comprises numbers 26 to 48 (even) and has three storeys, with numbers 36 and 38 rising to four storeys, all with basements. Each pair of houses is two windows wide. The houses are constructed of brick, with a stucco finish to the ground floor. A stucco cornice runs above the second floor. Numbers 36 and 38 feature a pediment above their paired entrance. The ground floor has wide, arched windows, while the other windows and door surrounds are square-headed. Wrought iron balconies are present on the first floor. The terrace forms part of a planned avenue designed to lead towards the Royal Hospital and contributes to a grand approach.
