Description

The tomb of George and Mary Waugh is located in Kensal Green Cemetery and dates from the late 19th century. It features a statuary marble figure of a seated woman who is mourning over an urn while holding a bowl. The figure is positioned above the inscription that reads, "I am the Resurrection and the Life." The tomb has a tall rectangular plinth with the inscription presented in lead letters. On the south side, there is an epitaph that commemorates Fanny Waugh, the first wife of the Pre-Raphaelite painter William Holman Hunt, who passed away in Florence in 1866. George Waugh died in 1873 and Mary Waugh in 1886.
