Description
Latimer AP Academy, located at 194 Freston Road, is a former London Board School, originally known as Latimer Road School, designed by E.R. Robson and dated 1879. The building is constructed of yellow brick with red brick dressings and features a tiled roof. It stands three storeys high with a symmetrical facade consisting of nine bays. The five central bays are slightly taller and include brick pilasters, two half-dormers, and two stone-coped gables. To the right, there is a set-back cross wing that has a Dutch gable and a hipped half-dormer on the return side. The ground floor center windows and the half-dormers at the front have round heads, while the other windows are square-headed. The windows are fitted with timber mullions and transoms, featuring sashes with small panes and glazing bars. The building has a hipped tiled roof and tall chimneys. Carved stone plaques are located at the gables of the half-dormers, set in brick surrounds, and also at the outer pairs of bays, which have scrolled cut brick split pediments, with the right one displaying the date.
