Description

The four terraced houses at 65-71 Hemingford Road date from around 1840. They are built of stock bricks laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with a rusticated stucco finish to the ground floor. The roofs are of Welsh slate, gabled on the central houses and hipped on the end houses, and feature slightly projecting eaves with party-wall brick stacks.

The houses follow a side-hall entrance plan with a staircase. Each house has three storeys and a basement and contains two windows. A flight of steps leads to a deeply recessed doorway flanked by pilasters supporting a simple entablature; the door has three panes above it. The ground floor windows are 6/6 sashes with margin lights. A stucco band separates the ground and first floors. The upper floors contain 6/6 sashes, each with gauged brick flat arches. The properties are included on the list for their group value.
