Description

This is a terrace of three houses located on Furlong Road, dating from approximately the 1840s to the 1850s. The houses are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with banded brickwork. The ground floor is stuccoed, and the detailing is also in stucco, including prominent corner quoins. The roofs are hidden behind later additions, and the party walls have brick stacks.

The layout follows a side-hall entrance pattern. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and features a single window front. The central bay projects slightly forward and is emphasized by giant stucco pilasters extending up the upper floors. Steps lead to the recessed entrance, which has doors with overlights and panels, and glazed sections. The windows are mostly original 6/6 sash windows; the ground floor of the centre house has a round-arched sash, while the upper floors have architraved sashes set within stucco panels. The first floor windows have bracketed sashes, with the central sash incorporating a pediment. Balconies are present on the upper floors. A stucco sill band runs along the first floor.

The upper floors of number 6 have been substantially rebuilt. A stucco band is visible just below the stucco cornice and blocking course.
