Description

No. 51 Thornhill Road is a detached double-fronted house dating from the 1840s. It is built of beige stock brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings and a Welsh-slate, hipped roof with projecting eaves and dormers. There are brick end-wall stacks. The house follows a centre-hall entrance plan, with two storeys, a basement, and an attic. The front elevation has a three-window range. The left-hand return wall is a plain brick wall. Steps lead to the entrance, which features pilasters supporting an entablature, a panelled door, and an overlight. The ground floor has 6/6 sash windows with architraves and pediments. A stucco sill band marks the upper storey, with 4/4 and 6/6 architraved sash windows. Rear extensions have been added.
