Description

Numbers 26 to 30 form a terrace of houses built between 1836 and 1837. The houses are constructed of yellow brick laid in Flemish bond, with stucco finishes. The roofs are hidden behind a parapet. Each house has three storeys over a basement, with two windows facing the street.

The basement and ground floor are stuccoed, with the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. A set of steps lead to a round-arched entrance, framed by a recessed round arch of smooth stucco, featuring Ionic pilasters, a fanlight with decorative glazing to numbers 28 and 30, and original panelled doors. The ground-floor windows are also round-arched, set within a recessed round arch of smooth stucco. The upper-floor windows have flat arches with gauged-brick heads. Many of the sash windows retain their original design, and bracketed cast-iron balconies are present throughout the terrace. A stucco cornice and blocking course top the facade, with stacks on the party walls. Number 30 has a mansard roof with a dormer window visible above the parapet. The front garden is enclosed by cast-iron area railings with spearhead finials.
