Description
Numbers 28-42 (even) and attached railings comprise a row of eight terraced houses built in the 1830s. The houses are constructed of yellow stock bricks laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with a rusticated stucco finish to the ground floor and stucco dressings throughout. They have Welsh-slate mansard roofs, some dormers, and brick party-wall stacks. The design follows a side-hall entrance plan with a central staircase.
Each house has three storeys and a basement, with attics in some. Most have two windows, though numbers 30-36 each have three. The ground floor features round-arched openings with steps leading to doorways, which have jambs, corniced heads, panelled doors, and fanlights. The upper floor windows are 6/6 sashes; those on the ground floor have curved and radial glazing bars with margin lights. Architraves define the upper sashes. The first floor has full-length sashes with friezes and cornices, each accompanied by an individual balcony with iron railings. A stucco cornice and blocking course runs along the top of the façade. Attached iron railings are present.
