Description

Numbers 27 and 29, Belitha Villas, are a pair of semi-detached villas built around 1845. They are constructed of yellow and brown stock bricks laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings and a Welsh slate hipped roof with projecting eaves and rebuilt centre stacks. The houses have a side-hall entrance plan incorporating a staircase. They are two storeys high, with a basement and attic, and each has two windows, with a narrower, one-window recessed entrance bay.

A prostyle Ionic portico in the outer bay leads to steps rising to a doorway with pilaster jambs supporting a corniced head. The original two-panelled door and a rectangular overlight remain. The ground-floor windows are 6/6 sash windows; No. 29 has a console bracketed cornice and a cast-iron window guard. Pilasters to the upper floors are missing. The first floor has 8/8 sash windows in the inner bay, and 6/6 sash windows in the entrance bay of No. 29, and in the entrance bay of No. 27, the sash has been altered in the 20th century. The attic windows are 4/4 and 3/3 sashes. There is notable patching and rebuilding of brickwork to the upper storeys. Attached to No. 27 are railings in a Gothic pattern.
