Description
Numbers 102-116 (even) and the attached railings comprise a terrace of eight houses dating to circa 1820, originally known as Arundel Terrace. The houses are built of yellow and brown stock brick with stucco dressings and banded stucco to the ground floor. The roof is hidden behind a parapet, with brick party-wall stacks. They are arranged with a side-hall entrance plan and staircase.
Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and features two windows. The ground-floor openings are round-arched and architraved. A flight of steps leads to the entrance of the right-hand bay, where a doorway is flanked by attached Greek Doric fluted columns supporting a corniced head, above a plain fanlight and a six-panelled door. The windows are predominantly 6/6 sash windows; however, number 106 has 20th-century casements to the upper floors, while numbers 110, 112, and 114 have 2/2 sashes on the second floor, and number 112 has 2/2 sashes on the ground floor. The ground-floor windows at numbers 102, 104, and 110 have curved and radial glazing bars. Stucco sill bands are present on the upper floors. The first-floor windows are architraved full-length sashes with bracketed cornices, though the window surrounds have been removed from numbers 102, 110, and 116. Individual iron balconies are present, except for the right-hand balcony at number 112. The second-floor sashes at numbers 104 and 110 have been rebuilt with gauged brick canted arches. A stucco cornice and blocking course with stone coping is visible, although the cornice has been removed from numbers 102, 104, and 116, and cut back at number 110. Cast iron area railings with urn finials are attached to the front of the terrace.
