Description
No. 97 Cloudesley Road is a terraced house built around 1830, which was later altered to serve as a shop or pub in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of yellow brick with stucco dressings, and its roof is obscured by a parapet. It has three storeys above a basement and features two windows. The ground floor retains remnants of a 19th-century shop front, including a cornice, fascia, and ornate consoles that act as fascia stops. All windows are flat-arched; those on the first floor have architraves and palmettes on the frieze and cornice supported by consoles, while the second-floor windows have architraves only. A deep stuccoed cornice is designed in the form of a panel, topped with a blocking course.
