Description

88 and 90 Richmond Avenue is a single villa with a later shopfront at number 88 and a one-storey extension to the left, which also has a simpler shopfront at number 90. Both buildings are now used for domestic purposes. They were constructed around 1840, with late 19th-century shopfronts added later. The villa is made of beige stock bricks arranged in Flemish bond, with stucco ground floors. It features a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate, while the extension's roof is hidden by a parapet. The villa has brick end stacks.

Number 88 is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The first floor has gauged brick flat arches with 6/6 sash windows. The ground-floor shopfront consists of four unequal architraved bays, supported by linked stucco piers with moulded capitals. There is a round-arched entrance in the far right bay, which has a 20th-century panelled door with a plain two-light fanlight above. To the left, there are three shop windows; the original round-arched centre door was replaced with a plain glazed window around 1980, and there are flanking tripartite 6-light fixed windows with flattened arches of unequal width and plain recessed panels below. A dentilled stucco cornice runs at the level of the shopfront.

Number 90 is one storey high with a two-window range. It has a 20th-century door in the right bay and a simple tripartite shop window to the left. The building features a moulded stucco cornice and parapet. Each building has one attached curved iron gas lamp arm.
