Description
The Grubb Institute is a former school, now used as offices, built in 1830. The building is constructed of stucco with a roof covered in late 20th-century tiles. It stands two storeys tall and features three windows in a double-fronted arrangement. The main block is flanked by angle buttresses that have two offsets, although the pinnacles are now missing. The centre of the block is also framed by buttresses that rise above the parapet, which similarly lack pinnacles. All openings have deep embrasures and do not have hoodmoulds. The central entrance is set beneath a four-centred arch, with two windows on either side featuring straight-sided pointed arches. There is a moulded storey band that previously included a panel above the entrance. On the first floor, there are three windows with four-centred arches and small-paned casements. The building has a moulded parapet that is gabled over the entrance and a hipped roof, with a side stack located to the south. Additionally, there are single-storey wings at both ends, with the northern wing featuring an entrance under a four-centred arch.
