Description
Numbers 21-31 (odd) and attached railings form a terrace of houses in Islington, built in the 18th century. The houses are constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with the roof hidden by a parapet. Each house has two storeys over a basement and two windows. The window and door surrounds feature brick arches with measured detailing. Steps lead to a round-arched entrance with fluted and cabled pilasters, a cornice, a fanlight, and an original panelled door. The ground-floor windows have flat arches, and the sashes are of original design with margin lights. First-floor windows are also flat-arched. The parapet has been rebuilt. Number 21 has original sashes on the first floor, a plastered parapet, and a dormer within an asbestos-slated mansard roof. Number 23 features a dormer set into a mansard roof covered with Welsh slate. Cast-iron railings run along the steps and area of the terrace, although these have been replaced at number 25.
