Description
94 North Road is a Grade II listed building located in Highgate. This late 18th-century structure is part of a pair with No 96, and both buildings are three stories tall with a basement. They are constructed of stock brick and feature a tall parapet with balustrading in the center.
No 94 has been stuccoed and has two windows in the main block on the first and second floors, along with one window in a projecting south bay. The ground floor features a late 19th-century square bay that supports a balcony, behind which is a recessed four-panel door set in a moulded architrave. All windows are framed with moulded architraves, some of which have ears and feet. The first-floor windows are positioned under a panelled frieze and pediment.
In contrast, No 96 has one window on each floor of the main block, featuring tripartite sashes with glazing bars under shallow segmental gauged brick arches, as well as single windows in the entrance bay and a square bay on the ground floor. It also has a pedimented porch leading to a door in a moulded architrave.
Additionally, there is a blue plaque from the Greater London Council on the building, commemorating Charles Dickens, who stayed here in 1852.
