Description
St George's House is an early to mid-19th century house located on North Hill in Highgate. The main block consists of three storeys and a basement, featuring three windows, with a later two-storey projection on the right side. The building is constructed of stock brick, with stuccoed front and back facades. It has an enriched cornice supported by small consoles and a blocking course above. The ground floor is rusticated and has round-headed openings. Most of the windows are sash with glazing bars, although some modern windows have been inserted. Access to the house is via six semi-circular steps leading to a half-glazed door set within a semi-circular Tuscan porch, which supports a balcony on the first floor, complete with wrought iron railing. The doorcase features Greek fret decoration. To the left, there is a two-storey extension that has a modern window on the upper floor. St George's House is part of a group that includes Nos 6 to 16 (even).
