Description

Woodstock Road School is a late 19th-century building forming a shallow U-shape, with projecting gabled wings and a slightly projecting five-bay centrepiece beneath a higher hipped roof crowned by a cupola. An arcaded stone balustrade blends into the roof slope. Smaller cupolas are located at each end. The building features scrolled and shaped stone coped gables above the second and fourth windows, alongside tall half dormers that break the eaves and alternate with lunettes on the same sill level. Overall, the school stands three storeys high. The end pavilions have three grouped windows on the first and ground floors, with a large round arched window on the second floor. The construction incorporates stock brick with red brick window dressings and rusticated quoins. The roof is tiled, with a moulded brick modillion eaves cornice. Staircase bays, characterized by closely set windows, are positioned between the centrepiece and the end pavilions.
