Description
Jamestown Primary School is a later 19th-century building designed in a T-plan Tudor-Gothic style, featuring a rectangular school house on the outer right. The structure is made of stugged, squared, and snecked sandstone with red sandstone margins and dressings, and it has trefoil-headed windows.
The main elevation showcases a 2-storey gabled wing that is advanced at the center, with a pair of bipartite windows grouped at the ground level, featuring a stone transom. Above, there is a similar window set within a pointed arch recess. The building has 4-bay asymmetrical returns on both the right and left sides. A lean-to porch is located in the re-entrant angle, featuring a 3-centred arch door and angle buttresses. Above the porch is a narrow gable with a centrally placed bipartite window.
To the right, there is a 2-bay block with bipartite windows symmetrically arranged at both the ground and first floors, the first-floor windows having trefoil heads. On the left, there is a single window with a blind window to the outer left at the first floor. The flanking wings consist of 3 bays, with the left wing featuring trefoil-headed windows and a fourth narrow window on the outer right, while the wing to the right has rectangular windows.
To the outer right, there is a 2-storey gabled house with three pairs of bipartite windows at both the ground and first floors, set into a recessed arch. A flat-roofed 3-storey stair block is located in the re-entrant angle to the left, featuring a 3-centred arched door at the center, flanked by small windows and tripartite windows above.
The windows are made of timber and uPVC, and the roof is covered with modern rubberoid tiles. The building features ashlar coping to the skews and apex stacks.
The boundary wall consists of a low rubble wall with semicircular coping, accompanied by plain cast-iron railings.
