Description

66 and 68 Tollington Park are semi-detached houses built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond, with stucco details and roofs made of artificial slate for number 66 and Welsh slate for number 68. The houses are two storeys high with a basement and feature two windows each.

There are steps leading up to a segmental-arched entrance located in the recessed outer bay, which is covered by a lower roof. The entrance has a stucco surround with pilasters, a keystone, a simply moulded archivolt, and a modillion cornice that supports a cartouche flanked by scrolled consoles. The doorcase includes a cornice, an overlight, and a panelled door designed in the original style.

On the ground floor, the windows are flat-arched and tripartite, featuring panelled pilasters and four consoles supporting an egg-and-dart cornice and segmental pediment. Small scrolled brackets are present at the architrave and pediment. The first-floor window in the inner bay is flat-arched with similar pilasters, a cornice on consoles, and a segmental pediment. The outer window has a plain stucco architrave with an open segmental pediment on consoles. There are brackets at the boxed eaves at the center point between the two houses. The roof of number 66 has segmental-arched dormers, while number 68 features gabled dormers. A stack is located on the party wall.
