Description

Grove House and Grove Cottage comprise an early 19th-century house with a later addition. The main front of Grove House faces south towards Stamford Grove West. It is a two-storey and basement structure with three windows, built of stock brick and featuring a stone-coped parapet. The roof is a Mansard style with large slates and a central, round-arched dormer. Sash windows are set within stucco reveals and have gauged flat brick arches; those on the west return have glazing bars and ornamental iron guards. The original central entrance on the ground floor has been bricked up and replaced with a small, modern window. The sole access point is now on the west return. An unusual full-height, rounded bow feature is present on the east return. Grove Cottage is a three-storey, one-window north wing, coupled with a single-story lean-to extension incorporating an attic.
