Description
The monument to Henry Richard, located in Abney Park Cemetery, is a Grade II listed structure. It was erected in 1891 through public subscription in memory of Henry Richard (1812-1888), who was a Congregationalist minister, Member of Parliament for Merthyr Tidfil from 1868 to 1888, a notable anti-war campaigner, and a promoter of religious freedom. The monument is made of Portland stone and pink granite, featuring an arcaded chest with a ridged roof set on a three-stage base. A portrait medallion is positioned on the end arch, above his name, which is inscribed in capitals. The inscription is presented in both English and Welsh.
