6 And 8, Lower Clapton Road E5

Nos 6 and 8 on Lower Clapton Road are an early 19th-century pair of houses, each standing three storeys tall with an attic and basement, and featuring three windows. They are constructed of multicoloured stock brick and have a stucco band at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course at the top. The roof has been rebuilt at a steeper pitch and is tiled, with three sets of modern hipped gabled dormers. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with gauged flat brick arches. The basement is stuccoed, and there are nine steps leading up to the six-panel doors, which are adorned with rectangular fanlights and set within prostyle Doric porches, complete with wrought iron handrails. Nos 6 to 12 form a group.
