Description

This is an early 19th century pair of houses, numbered 10 and 12, located on Lower Clapton Road in London. The buildings are three storeys high with a basement, each originally featuring three windows. They are constructed of multicoloured stock brick, with a stucco band at the first floor level, a cornice, and a blocking course along the top. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within gauged flat brick arches. Number 10 has a projecting porch, stuccoed in a later 19th century style, with a right-hand extension. The porch features round arched openings framed by an architrave and impost band, leading to an original door accessed by eight steps. Number 12 also has an eight-step approach to a six-panel door, housed within a prostyle Doric porch, and a small later 19th century extension on the left side. Numbers 6 to 12, even, are considered to form a group.
