Description
Nos. 60 and 61 Mark Lane is a distinguished building constructed in 1864 by Aitchison. This four-storey structure is designed in a modified Byzantine style and is made of Portland stone. The ground storey features segmental window arches and a pair of columns framing the principal entrance. Above this, there is a frieze with incised decoration. The upper storeys are arcaded and have carved caps on the columns, along with decorative bands and low relief ornamentation. The cornice is simplified, and the glazing has been altered. The internal construction was originally made of iron, but it appears to have been replaced or encased.
