Description

Lambe's Chapel Crypt is a mid-12th century structure that was relocated from its original site at Lambe's Chapel in Monkswell Street and reconstructed within the remains of the west end of the south aisle or nave of the Church of All Hallows Staining. It is believed to have once been part of the Hermitage of St James on the Wall. The crypt has been reduced to two bays and features a candystick rib vault, which is supported by richly carved capitals on short shafts.
