Description
No 2 White Lion Court, said to date from 1767, is a large house with four storeys above a basement. The front is stuccoed in the 19th century, featuring a cornice—possibly original—below the top storey and a rusticated ground storey. There is a cornice hood over the entrance supported by decorated brackets. The area has cast iron railings and a pair of seated marble lions flanking the steps. Inside, original features include a mutule cornice and an archway in the hall, another archway leading to the first floor landing, an enriched cornice in the front room on the first floor, and the main staircase with slender balusters, column-newels, and a panelled dado. The front room on the second floor is well fitted from the mid to late 19th century, while the rear of the building is of no interest.
