Description

Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are a group of three terraced houses built between 1810 and 1813. They are constructed of yellow stock brick, with later patching. The ground floors of numbers 1 and 2 are rusticated stucco, while the first and third floor sill bands are plain stucco. The houses are four storeys high with basements. Each house has two windows, except for number 1, which has one window facing Leigh Street, three blind windows on the return to Marchmont Street, and one window on the splayed corner. The windows have gauged brick flat arches. The first floor has continuous cast-iron balconies. The houses have parapets.

Number 1 forms part of number 98 Marchmont Street and is not included in the listing. It features a stucco portico on the return with a round-arched doorway, a fanlight, sidelights, and a 20th-century door. Number 2 has a round-arched doorway with fluted pilaster jambs supporting a cornice head, a fanlight, and a panelled door. Number 3 has a wooden shopfront with pilasters carrying a projecting entablature with rounded ends and a projecting cornice, as well as an altered shop window. The house and shop doorways are square-headed, with fanlights including margin lights, and the house door is panelled.

The interiors were not inspected. Attached cast-iron railings are present to the areas, with urn finials to numbers 1 and 2.
