Description
Two terraced houses with later shops, built around 1808 to 1811 by James Burton. The houses are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and stand four storeys high, each with two windows.
At number 61, the shopfront features Corinthian columns supporting an inswept entablature with a dentil cornice. The shop and entrance door are modern interpretations of a Regency style. The house doorway has a cornice-head, fanlight, and panelled door. Gauged brick flat arches frame the recessed sash windows. A parapet tops the building.
Number 63 has a 19th-century shopfront with a corn cornice; on the left side, the lower portion of a herm-type console is present. A free-standing group of stone figures holding a cornucopia is centrally placed on the first floor. Stucco architraves surround the recessed sash windows, and the first floor windows have console bracketed cornices with enriched friezes and later triangular pediments. A parapet also tops this property.
The interiors retain some original features.
