Description

Numbers 8, 9, and 10 are a terrace of four houses built between 1792 and 1800, with some alterations. Number 8 features multi-coloured stock brick with later patching, a stucco ground floor, and a first-floor sill band. It is a corner block with a slated mansard roof and dormers, originally two residences with three windows each, and a three-window return to Doughty Street. The building has three storeys, an attic, and basements. There is a slightly projecting 20th-century portico with Ionic pilasters supporting an entablature, a 20th-century radial fanlight, and a panelled door. The ground floor windows are architraved, while the upper storey has reddened gauged brick flat arches over recessed two-pane sashes. A stone cornice and blocking course complete the facade.

Numbers 9 and 10 are also constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and feature slated mansard roofs with dormers. Each has three storeys, attics, and basements, with three windows each. The round-arched doorways have pilaster-jambs supporting cornice heads, along with fanlights and panelled doors. There is a stucco first-floor sill band, and the upper storeys have reddened gauged brick flat arches over recessed sashes; Number 9 has two-pane sashes and cast-iron balconies on the first floor. Both buildings have parapets.

The attached cast-iron railings with urn finials are present at the areas of Numbers 9 and 10. The interiors have not been inspected.
