Description

Number 12 is a terraced house located on Theobald's Road, dating from the early 19th century, with a 20th-century refacing designed to resemble 18th-century architecture in order to match other houses in the terrace. It was restored in 1989. The building is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, featuring plain brick bands at the first and second floor levels. It has a double pitch roof and consists of four storeys plus a basement, with a return to King's Mews that includes a single-storey extension. The front façade has three windows and three blind windows on the return side.

The entrance features a stucco doorcase with pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment, along with a fanlight and double panelled doors. The windows are recessed sashes with gauged brick flat arches. The building has a parapet, and the return side showcases a late 18th-century wooden doorcase that has been reused, similar to those found at Nos 14, 16, and 22. This doorcase is adorned with attached Ionic columns that support a pedimented entablature with a frieze of Greek fret, as well as a fanlight and panelled door. The upper storey blind windows have segmental heads and an oculus.

The property also features attached cast-iron railings with foliated finials surrounding the areas. The interior has not been inspected.
