Description
The garden house is a mid-19th century wooden octagonal structure located in the private garden at the center of Bedford Square. It features Chinoiserie design elements, including chamfered columns, openwork spandrels with circles and quatrefoils, and projecting eaves. The roof is topped with a ball and spike finial. Inside, there are benches with latticed ends as part of the overall design. This garden house dates from before 1866 and was relocated to its current position at the west end of the square from the center of the gardens in 1874.
