Description
The Keeper's Box, built around the 1840s, is located at TQ 2661 8657 and is accompanied by an approximately 270-meter-long sunken wall that runs southeast from the box. Constructed from red-purple brick, the box features a tiled conical roof with overhanging bracketed eaves, a terracotta finial, and a chimney stack. It has a window with glazing bars and a renewed door and lintel. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this structure was likely built to mark the southwestern boundary of Sir Thomas Maryon Wilson's East Park estate. An 1894 Ordnance Survey map identifies the box as a police hut.
