Description

Vale Lodge is an early 19th-century detached house, altered since its original construction. It is built of stucco, with an enriched band at first-floor level, and has a hipped, slated roof. The house presents a three-window facade. A Greek Doric portico in antis features a bucrania frieze; the doorway has double-panelled doors and a narrow overlight. The windows are a mix of recessed sash and casement types, with the first floor windows featuring traceried lights and a wrought-iron balcony above the portico. The interior has not been inspected. The house was formerly the home of Edgar Wallace, a writer.
