Description
Vale House and Vale Cottage comprise what was originally a symmetrical grouping of three cottages, dating to the early 19th century. The central and right-hand cottages now form Vale House, with the left-hand cottage functioning as Vale Cottage. The building is constructed of stucco, with the rear (north) elevation of Vale House weatherboarded. The building has two storeys and three storeys in the centre cottage and features a five-window range. The doorways are square-headed, with hoodmoulds over; Vale Cottage has a half-glazed door, Vale House a plank door with an overlight, and the original right-hand cottage doorway has been converted into a window. The windows are recessed sash windows; Vale Cottage has cast-iron window guards to the upper floor, and Vale House has hoodmoulds over the upper floors of the central cottage. Further features of Vale House include circular tie plates, a gable to the central cottage, and a parapet with an elevated centre displaying a blank, shield-shaped plaque. The interiors remain uninspected.
