Description

A semi-detached pair of houses situated on the west side of the Vale of Health, dating from the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick with a stucco band at first floor level, and a cornice and blocking course. They are three storeys high with semi-basements, each featuring a single window on the main facade. Basement doorways are fitted with half-glazed doors. South Villa has a canopy supported by cast-iron columns. The ground floor windows of North Villa incorporate blind boxes. Architraved tripartite sash windows are present throughout. The interior has not been inspected. The property includes attached cast-iron railings and gates with brick gateway piers. A cottage previously stood on the site of South Villa, and was likely the residence of the poet Leigh Hunt between 1815 and 1817.
