Description
The memorial to Sir Rowland Hill is located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery and dates from around 1879. It is made of marble and features a tall rectangular inscribed plinth topped with obelisk bollards, which were originally intended for a chain surround that has since been removed. The plinth also includes inscribed stepped blocks. Sir Rowland Hill is known for founding the penny post, but it is important to note that he is buried in Westminster Abbey, making this memorial a tribute rather than a burial site.
